Papua New Guinea – Ulya Plantation A/X
vegetal, tomato, spice
Ulya plantation produces coffee with a rich history. The Waghi Valley is surrounded by steep mountains, pristine forest and dark, volcanic sandy loam soils which are recognized as one of the world’s most advanced farming regions. This legacy is proudly carried forward into today’s coffee production. The main plantation spans over 170 hectares and is still managed by a single owner, supplying exclusively to MONPI Coffee Exports. In 2013, MONPI assumed control of the Ulya Plantation mill and its entire cherry supply. They have since completely renovated the mill and invested in a state-of-the-art waste water plant on the wet-mill premises. The parchment is primarily sun-dried and its “untamed taste” is considered one of PNG’s finest cupping profiles.
